Question
QUESTION: I Read where Tavarez was re-signed, what happened to him that he was not involved in the world series, and what about the rookie that pitched a no hitter, believe his name was Bucholtz.  Will he pitch for the Sox next year?

ANSWER: Tavarez was left of the World Series Roster. Bucholtz will definately be with the PawSox next season with an occational call up to Boston to cover for rotation injuries ect.

QUESTION: I knew Tavarez was off the World Series Roster, but what was the reason?  Why isn't Bucholtz going to be on the pitching roster instead of with the PawSox?

Answer
Tavarez was left of the World Series Roster simply because it was a numbers game. There's only so much room and with the days off allowed by the playoff schedule, the starters, which are in the bullpen (available during the playoffs) would be more than able to handle any relief duties in a short series.
I doubt Bucholtz will be on Boston's opening day starting rotation because they'll have Schilling, Beckett, Lester, Matsuzaka and Wakefield as their starting 5. But don't worry, Bucholtz will be the first to be called up in the event of an injury . . .

Expertise

Boston Red Sox players, team & Fenway Park statistics and history are my strengths. Boston's minor league teams are not.

Experience

I've been attending Red Sox games yearly at Fenway Park since 1969. I thrive on Bosox trivia. I have been a huge Red Sox fan since I was 12 years old. My knowledge of Carl Yastrzemski is exceptional. He was my boyhood hero and I still miss his (hard-nose, give 100% every game) playing style to this day. I 'live & die' with the Red Sox every season, game and even every inning.
