My BT is two years old. He has always had a sensitive stomach and recently (since the beginning of the summer) has begun to lose hair. It started behind his ears as a red bumpy rash that he scratched a lot. At the same time he was also licking his feet a great deal. The thinning of hair started about a month ago mostly around the back of his ears, top of head, under arms and more recently on his sides and his eye lids. The vet thinks it might be mites and he is on his fourth treatment Ivermectin. He seems to flare up right before the next treatment but the hair loss still seems to be spreading. We feed him Science Diet for Sensitive Stomachs and just started adding 1/2 a tsp of Lipiderm a day. Still, I don't see much improvement and I can see the thin hair spreading to his elbows and hind legs just this week.

Could it be allergies? Do you think it is mites? I read you recommend using T-Gel for allergies and feeding the dog lamp and rice. Do you think that is something we should try?

Oh NO! Sounds like he had been on the Ivermectin too long...!
If it was the Mange ( mites) the Ivermectin would have worked by now.
Please tell your vet you don't want to do the Ivermectin again.

Also, the Science Diet needs to go , too!
