Hello I contacted you about two months ago about my boston china and that we decided to breed her. She was 17 pounds and male was 15.. My question for you now is how often does a boston usally have their heat? She had her last heat dec 24th 08. I was wondering because her stud is leaving for a week in july. I am hoping I dont miss her dates for mating... You have been so helpful. Does it help if the mother free whelped does that increase the odds of her free whelping also? Or is that a myth. Thanks so much, Ester   And I did end up getting the test that were needed. negitive =)

Hi:  Glad you had the testing done!

The Heat cycle will come every 6-8 months... Yes, she is due for the next heat very soon.  You may miss it with this stud.  Ask his mom if you can keep him.  Don't know what else to tell you.


In order for her to FREE welp, the pups must be enganged and her pelvic area must be ready to handle the big heads of this breed.

Whelping is often difficult as the pelvis is narrow and the large headed pups are often delivered with much difficulty...



(EXTREME CAUTION MUST BE TAKEN WHEN A Boston...IS FREE-WHELPING, EVEN UNDER PERFECT CONDITIONS).
C-section of a Boston is the most prefered way and the safest! Do NOT attempt a free whelp unless the VET clears you ....
