Question My Boston is about 1 1/2 years old and weights approx. 19lbs. I've tried many different foods but stuck with Halo because he seemed to do well with it, but he hasn't gained much weight. I just recently (1 week) changed to Solid Gold Barking at the Moon as it came highly recommended for weight gain but i'm not sure if this is a step in the right direction. As much as i would love to have home made meals for my BT, my lifestyle cannot support that, I do not have the time to cook meals for him. Another issue that i have (which i'm not sure if it's a problem at all) is that he will only eat wet food. He won't touch dry food unless i mix it with the wet food and i've slowly tried reducing the amount of wet food but it's not working. Could you please help? Thank you very much for your time!
Oscar
Answer Canine Weight gain tips; Boston Terrier too thin:
Hi Oscar, Solid Gold Barking at the Moon is a great dog food! It will help your boy to gain some weigth over the next few months. You can also offer some cottage cheese ( 2% milk) every -Other- day - about 1/4 a cup.
I hope he is on the NuVET supplement? If not, NuVET helps with muscle mass and aides in digestion, too.... 1000s and 1000s of Bostons take 1 NuVET wafer per day - it helps to protect the hips, legs and joints from injury and future arthritis.
~~~~ Call NuVET and tell them Pet Nurse Marie sent you for the NuVET wafers:
When you call,
**** explain how you want your boy to gain some muscle mass and some bulk.
You can also do some very Light weight pulling with your boy..... I mean very light....
Start out slowly to help build bulk in legs.
1-800-474-7044 Use order code 81098 and give my name: Not sold in stores ( HOLISTIC)
Make sure they know you are working with Pet Nurse Marie
Vit E.....
Last, you can add just 1 of a 50 mg IU of Vit E - per day , for the next 2 months.....
This is a very small cat size dosage/ VERY safe for your boy.
HOPE this helps
YOU have a good food / just mix you old food and the new food - for a few months.
Good luck
