Question
Hey!
Thanks for the advice and information..Today we went to the vet for a recheck and the Ulcer looked smaller then he did another debridement and the Ulcer was similar in size to the last time he saw John.He said that it was a non healing Ulcer but yet he said where he did the debridement last time that it has healed along the edges...He did a very vigoursely debridement this time and thinks and hopes that will be better next week.Hes really pushing the grid keratotomy. But our Boston would have to be put to sleep and hes nine year old.We would rather not have the surgery because of his age and lil nose and he has alot of reverse sneezes.
What I'm wondering is what exactly does the debridement do?It seems to always make it worse...Is debridment a good idea? Can this heal on its own?Its been 2 weeks since this happened......
Thanks so much

Answer
Hi Friends!  The debridement helps to take away the old and non-healing tissue and opens up to new tissue that has a chance to repair.  This is the process for healing an area such as this.  It will heal with a large scar in the area of the injury.  Your Boston can live with this scar and accomplish his daily tasks.  I am with you, I would not put my dog under anesthesia for the surgery at his age and health.
You are doing a great job!

Accident do happen.

BEST of luck
