I have a 1-1/2 yr old Boston(fixed). He came to live with us when he was 8 wks. I have a 6 year old boy. They both harass each other quite a bit, but love each other very much. When he was a puppy he did ok with crate training. Now he seems to be regressing and it is getting worse. He will come in from being outside (sometimes for hours) and before I know it he has gone into go into my son's room and pooped. It seems deliberate. We have problems no matter how many times he goes in and out to play or potty, and it doesn't matter if my son is home or not. I started closing the door to the room and he will go in front of it. He is quick and sneaky. He knows it is wrong. He is part of our family and we spend a lot of time with him. I don't want to have to crate him while we are at home. Its gross having to clean up and steam clean the carpet constantly.

Hi Cari , Your dog needs a food that has less fillers and additives.  I bet that he will be able to deal better with his potty habits when his food is changed.

Also, you will need to limit his areas:
I would go back to crate training ( SORRY), since he has not earned freedom in the house.  
Clean any soiled areas with an enzymatic cleaner and your steam cleaner machine.
Keep him near you on a leash or inside a gated area.  When he looks like he needs to go, say "outside?" in a Sweet voice, and take him.
Don't let him have RUN of the house for a number of weeks.
