Question
Hi I just mated my female boston she is 3 1/2 and I was wondering how often do bostons have a c-section? is it possible to have a natural birth with this breed? she has had several heat cycles and it at least 15lbs so is the male I bred her with. he is brown and white and a little taller and she is black and white and a little longer than him. they both have similiar size heads and weight. I am new at this and would just like to have a little input as to what I should do. if the pregnancy takes she will be due oct. 30-31st.  thank you.

Answer
Hello, Natural births are thankfully comman among boston terriers and my own boston terrier is from a natural birthed litter. I do here of breeding having to c-section there dogs fairly often as well however. The best thing to do is put a large sum of money away(1500-2000) as pet insurance never covers this surgery and have it just in case...find a 24 hour vet as well that could do the surgery...look beforehand so you will not be running in circles should a problem arise during whelping.
