About Laura Brierley
Expertise
I`ve been a huge Bowie fan for some time now. I`ve read up on his life and I`m well versed in his music. I love Bowie sites on the web, so if I don`t know the answer I could refer you to someone who does.

Experience
I've listened to Bowie for a few years now, have collected all of his albums tirelessly, read up on his life quite a bit and followed his career over the last few years.

Bowie, David - the man who sold the world

Expert: Laura Brierley - 11/22/2004

Question
Could you please give me your interpretation of this song? Some say it is  about Jesus / the devil / his mentally-ill brother, what do you think? Thanks

Answer
I'd say it was about the rise of commercialism in the world.  Maybe false people..."he said i was his friend"?  The loneliness of the modern world..."I thought you died alone"?  I'd say the coldness of the commercial, capitalist world is my interpretation.  I don't think it's a religious thing or about his brother.  Try going to www.teenagewildlife.com and asking in the interpretation section...it's really very good, worth joining up if you're a serious fan.  Do a search first.
