Bowie, David - Is this a valuable recording?

Expert: Stefan Westman - 4/11/2006

Question
Thank you in advance for your time. I have a question for you regarding a recording I have. I would like to know what you think the value would be if any for a recording from Trident Studios in London from 1971. I have a 1/4 inch reel-to-reel recording with two songs in a box with a label from Trident Studios and the name KEN written in the "programme" field. Ken being Ken Scott? I have listened to the tape and had it transferred to CD, it is in excellent condition containing 2 songs: "Oh! you pretty things" and "Quicksilver". It was given to my Dad from Jack Nelson the first manager of Queen as a gift. The studio that converted the tape said it was for sure a studio reel since it was still "open" meaning there were no "margins" set on the mixing board for levels (whatever that means) on the recording.

Thanks again for your answer and information!!!

Answer
I'll help in any way I can. Please send mp3 snippets of all the songs and I'll have a listen and let you know what I think it is. And, please send me your e-mail addy, this in order to not speak about this on all experts.com

Sincerely - Stefan (Bassman) Westman
