Question
On oil patterns usually how much of the lane on the end is left dry?

Answer
It depends on the pattern.  Most house patterns are in the 38 to 42 foot length, while some PBA patterns are as short as 35 feet and as long as 50ft.  The head pin is 60ft from the foul line, so you can have as much as 25 feet or as little as 10 feet.
