             What is meant by hitting the ball on the
          release and what is the advantage and disavantage
          to it and who do you use this release.

Hitting the ball is the act of lifting and turning the ball at release.

Advantage - the ball will hook more. Disadvantage, if the ball hooks more, it may hook too much or too early.

Don't hit the ball, it hook less. On dryer lanes or with less ball speed, less hit works.
