Question
I have been bowling for many years and have just started dropping the bowl on my downswing, I avg 200+ for years but this new development has dropped my average to the 190's.  What could be causing this problem, swing?,timing?

I have tried different drills on several balls but the problem persist.  Any ideas

Answer
I would examine your timing as I think that is the issue.  If possible, take some video.  The best angle would be from the side.  If you are right handed, you want to position the camera on your right side.  Take a look at the last step and slide during your approach.  If you slide foot is getting to the foul line well ahead of the ball, that can cause dropping of the ball.  If that is the case, make sure you are getting the ball into the swing soon enough and not over extending your pushaway.

Also, take a look at your body position at the finish.  If you are too far forward with your shoulders, this can cause you to drop the ball too.  Sometimes this happens when you concentrate on getting low at the foul line.  The tendancy is to bend forward at the waist and not at the knee.

Good luck,
