where you keep your thumb at 10,oclock lock thru the push-away
and the completed arm swing is this a good way.

That is a very good way to start developing your game.  It is simple and will create some ball motion to help you strike.  It should be easy to repeat.  There are some very good bowlers that still use a version of that release.  At times, even on tour, you will see bowlers use that.
