Bowling/heavy oil

Question
Hi Warren, I have been bowling with a radical inferno for the past fourish months using a mongoose lifter at about 13mph, averaging 155.  I was really happy with the ball as it was hooking and hitting hard and despite my average I was getting 180's 200's regulary.  However, the bowling alley has recently purchased a new oiling machine.  My ball is now hardly hooking at all at dies in the pocket.  My question is what ball would you recommend for these heavy oil conditions or could it be a matter of getting my radical inferno resurfaced?
Many thanks, Richard

Answer
Richard,
The Radical is fairly smooth. The hardly hooking is one problem, dying at the pocket another. Is the surface of your Inferno dulled from use? or is it still shiny?

If it has dulled up, try some cleaner/polish. Have the local pro shop hit it with Reacta Shine, Clean and Shine or something similar.

If it's still shiny, you may be dealing with more oil on the lanes.
If you freshen the surface (have the local pro shop guy sand the ball, so surface is smooth but dull, about 1000 with Abralon). Try it with the fresh surface.

Let me know what steps you take, and we can readdress the situation if the problem isn't solved. Thanks for the questions. Bowl well. and Happy New Year.
