Question
I love bowling but Im very frustrated with my game. For as long as I can remember people say that im spinning the ball. My track is real low. About 5 inches from the middle finger grip. Ive seen others track an inch or two from the grip. How do they do that ?
I should mention, Im a right handed bowler.  have a four step delivery.
People who have watched me say Im coming over the top or around the ball too much, and that I need to stay behind and underneath the ball more. Could you please explain ?
What can I do to roll a true hook and become a semi-roller, not a spinner ?

Answer
Clinton,
Don't try SO HARD. You want so badly to hook it you deliver the ball very late.

If you do not have a fit issue (hand flat of the ball, no need to grip AT ALL), hold the ball in your setup, palm up, thumb at 12 oclock (up).

Go to 3-4 feet from the foul line and deliver the ball with the same hand position as mentioned, push and hinge your swing, letting the ball move to just about the top of your swing, until you move your slide foot forward. Pushing/sliding forward on your slide foot, let the ball roll off/out of your hand 30-50 times, feeling it fall off your thumb just before your ankle. You are trying to get the feel of the correct point of release. Maintain the hand position from setup until the ball falls away with less effort.

Getting the ball off your hand when you can get some leverage (ball just below your shoulder at the point of release), will help with your track. Now your equipment will roll and react differently. Write me back.
Thanks for the question. Bowl well.
