Bowling/flaring over thumb

Question
I have a 15 lb Hammer Black Widow Bite, drilled w/ the pin under the ring (right handed) finger.  About a 1 inch pin. From what I know, no other way to do it..... Mass bias is about 2" plus to the right of the thumb.  Fingers and thumb are both drilled about 2 1/2" deep.  No hole in the side to even out weight.
The problem is that the ball flares out over the thumb hole, as far as I can see, about 3 flare rings.
My question to you is what can be done to lower my tack a little bit so that it doesn't flare up over the thumb hole??? Take out side weight? dHave them drill a thumb hole or finger hole deeper? What do you suggest? The last ball that I had that did this was the Ebonite Nitro!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your help and answer is greatly appreciated

Answer
Is it the first flare rings that do this or the final flare rings?

I would expect it to be the first flare rings and that means you are turning your hand too early in your release.  Try to make sure you hand doesn not turn counter clockwise until the ball reaches your ankle.  That should help.

Good luck,
Chip
