Question
Russ, I have an older Ebonite ball sitting around the shop since before I started working there. The carton says: Turbo Black Panther, 16 lbs, Reactive Resin, PinMed, Black Sanded. The serial number is 63C0680. Someone wants to buy it but I'm going to have to drill it for him and I can't identify the CG.  I'll try to describe the marking that probably encloses the CG is some way, shape or form.  Three inches from the pin is a symbol about an inch or so wide. It consists of a circle with an inverted light bulb shape in the middle. In the "light bulb" is the word "Turbo." Around the outer edge of circle are four forms. At the top a plus sign, at the bottom a triangle with point down, at the left side a small rectangle and at the right side a small circle.  I'm hoping you or one of your contacts or another reader will be able to tell me what this symbol represents/how to drill the ball.  Thanks, Bill

Answer
Back in those days(1996), things were simple.Pin at 1:30. THAT WAS IT TO START WITH.I have one sitting infront of me.I always check for center marked or not. Put a line from + to triangle & oval to rectangle. This should be very close to center( I AM PRETTY SURE THEIR JUST REFERENCE POINTS.).YOU SHOULD GET ZERO ALL THE WAY AROUND.IT IS NOT A BIG REACTION BALL COMPARED TO TODAYS EQUIPMENT.MAYBE LIKE A STORM TROPICAL OR A BRUNSWICK GROOVE.

THE PANTHER HAS A TURBO X STYLE CORE BUT HOOKS WAY LESS BUT HOOKS EARLIER ABOUT 5-10 FEET.I HAD A BETTER REACTION BY STROKING THE BALL MORE OF A MELLOW HOOKING DOWN & IN SHOT(DRILLED 1/4 POS. SIDE PIN 1:30 3 1/2" OUT shiny).
