Question is it "legal" to bowl with only your middle and ring fingers in the ball and you just palm the rest.... i tried to hook the ball using 3 fingers but it went straight so my friend told me not to use my thumb so i tried and it worked great... i was wondering if i could bowl like this in a league
Answer Marcus,
If you position your hand so you touch the thumb hole it(the thumb hole) is considered a gripping hole. So throwing it in league play would be legal.
Just a suggestion, you've achieved hook by rotating the ball with two fingers, but in the long run your delivery is very erratic. NO ONE plays at the highest levels (pros, National Teams, etc.) with two fingers, but you've discovered how, through wrist rotation and revolutions, to hook it. Use your new experience to better understand the techniques you need to hook the ball with a more controllable, although, traditional grip.
Thanks for your question. Bowl well.
