Question
HI,
I just started getting back into bowling but this time I'm playing seriously. I my average is 134 and I'm using all my dad's equipment. This stuff is older than i am... I need to find a good ball. I'm seriously looking into a Mirage by ebonite. Is there anything similar that i can get.

Oh, and a few more questions... How can i find my ball speed? Rev rate? Number of boards on the lane covered (out and back) by the roll and hook portions of the ball path.

Thanks for everything,
Tyler

Answer
The best way to find rev rate and boards of via a video camera and a slow motion capable playback system.  There is a formula for for ball speed, but I dont remember it off hand.  Some bowling centers have this capability on their scoring systems.  You may be able to find the formula on the internet.

The mirage is a plastic ball I think.  If that is correct, it is not different than the house balls the bowling centers provide.  I would find a pro shop in your area to visit.  They will be able to help you select a ball and fit your hand properly as well.

Good luck,
Chip
