Bowling/shoes for a stroker
Expert: - 9/25/2008
QuestionI've just gotten back into bowling after about 40 years. I'm 55 and last bowled for my high school team (175 avg). I am a "stroker" and I'm looking for the right kind of shoe that will allow me the longest, smoothest slide. Any suggestions?
Thanks
AnswerTim,
Modern (high tech) shoes offer soles and heels that are removable or elements of the soles and heels that have interchangeable segments or disks. You can change the combinations until you find just the right one.
Check out a pro shop that offers shoes. Ask about the Dexter, Etonic, Linds and 3G (Dynaroo) Shoes. The crucial part of the shoes is having someone that can guide you to a close starting point. Some come with multiple sets, and its time consuming "trying out" more than a dozen combinations or more, especially when some combinations might "glue" you to the approach (not what you want, obviously).
On the downside, I see many bowlers spending bucks on high tech shoes when they never will change anything and can probably get away with simpler (less expensive) models.
Good luck, thanks for the questions.
