Bowling/Ball causing a foul

Question
I was bowling league tonight and one of the other bowlers on the other team tended to drop her ball behind or on the foul line when throwing it.  A couple times it caused the fowl light to go off.  Is this a fowl in USBC leagues or does the foot have to cross?  Thank you.

Answer
Mike,
No. Ball can't cause a foul. Part of the bowlers body must cross the line (at the foul line the foul light would typically go off).

But hand or body over the line touching a wall, post, etc. or foot going over on an adjacent lane also is considered a foul.

Thanks for the question.
