Bowling/Layouts

Question
Chip, you have answered questions for me previously and I have an odd one  for you.  I have a Hammer BW pearl drilled for a full roller.  I would like to have some idea of what to expect from the ball rolling it as a semi roller which I am attempting to switch to.  Once I learn a new release, I plan to seek help in layout of a new ball.

Answer
The worst thing that will happen as you learn to convert to a semi roller is the ball will flare over the holes.  The full roller layout will make the ball end up tracking like a full roller.  I have actually drilled a couple for me like that in the past and they have worked very well.  It may hit the thumb hole once or twice but that shouldnt be a real problem.

If you can learn the semi roller you will be able to  take advantage of the different layouts available for that style.  The full roller is much more limited.

Good luck,
Chip
