Question
hi! I'm a lefty bowler and i hurt my middlefinger while i was releasing the ball, it hurt too much that i can't put my middlefinger into the ball, so the next week i was using my ring and pinky finger and wow  I created different roll more of a heavy roll- almost 700series in a thursday league and again in saturday league, I have never heard of anyone who done these...Please explain or commend on this matter....thank you

Answer
Jorge,
A popular lefty on staff with AMF about 10 years ago, used to throw his spare ball the way you describe. Positioning the ball on that part of your hand doesn't allow you to come around it as much and so the hook is cut down.

On today's soft lane conditions, strong bowling balls sometimes are too strong (especially as the lane breaks down, or in breaking them down). Throwing balls so they hook less, actually teaches bowlers that weak releases and weak ball roll can still score. Unfortunately, you can only score on soft conditions that allow the ball to react more because of lane conditions and less from bowlers skills. Bad for bowlers, bad for bowling.

You gotta do what works. Thanks for the info.
