QuestionMy question is if a team does not have a legal line up at the start of the first game and they show up after we are in the 2nd frame, do you let them catch up or do they forfeit the game and can they bowl that game or should they set out and use their average. Also can they bowl the other two games without a forfeit.
AnswerJackie,
Each game must be played with a minimum legal lineup. If in game 1, there are not enough players, the game is forfeited. You may allow the players that show up, to pace for game one. When a legal lineup is present they may play each of the subsequent two games, as normal.
Or, at the discretion of your team, you may just let the team bowl the first game. Your motivation, how competitive the team and league is, might lead you to do either or.
Sportsmanship, competitiveness and the demeanor of the league all come into play. You do what you feel is best by either adhering to the letter of the rules if that is what everyone does, or bending the rules a little so everyone can enjoy the camaraderie, fun and competition of your league.
Thanks for the question. Have fun, and bowl well.
