Bowling/lifting head during delivery
Expert: - 11/16/2009
Questioni have a problem with picking head up and not seeing spot during delivery taking a lot of roll off ball. I have averaged in the 190s for years but feel I could be much better. Could this be too fast to the line and rushing swing. Still trying after many years to solve this problem. Any help would be appreciated
AnswerMike,
A big head bob at the point of release sounds like fast feet and a yanked swing (when the ball is pulled down the head rares back to offset the motion).
How does the ball feel? When fit is tenuous a more mechanical forced swing is often the result. If the ball is letting go of you, the lay down point is smooth and fluid, barely a sound is made.
Quit a few things can be the problem. Too short an approach, too little slide and getting the ball into your swing too quickly are a few of the most obvious. Can you get me a video of you rolling a couple shots from behind and the ball side of your body? Is there a coach or more experienced bowler you can rely on to help you? Someone that can describe what they see? I'd like to get more info to help narrow down the symptoms. Thanks for the questions.
