Question
yes i am bowling in the super bud bowl tournament this year at light house lanes in oswego ny and i just wanted to ask you how can i bowl good scores in this tournament when the oil pattern is from the edge of the gutter to the right side of the second arrow?       and yes i am a right handed bowler

Answer
Pat,
Sounds like a reverse block.

You need to have enough ball (surface and layout) to be able to get the ball to read/react in the oil, or play the part of the lane that doesn't have any oil with your least hooking ball (I'd try rubber).

The third option is to play way across the lane and use the oil on the left side of the lane (slide the ball from gutter to second arrow on the left or from left of 7th arrow to around sixth) to get some skid.

Using a weaker core ball, depending on your ball speed and rev rate, will help get the ball down the lane, but your axis rotation will tell where it will start to hook. So, if you have some hand position options, use the least axis rotation (end over end roll, or forward roll) and try to play straight at the pocket or if you can get around the ball get deep (sixth or seventh arrow).

This kind of condition favors hard throwers.

Thanks for the question.
