Bowling - i would really like to become a professional and need a sponsor

Expert: Chip Aki - 3/11/2009

Question
I was wondering what I would need to do to get a sponsor so I can pursue my dream of becoming a professional bowler!! I have averaged a 210 bowling average my last 6 years of my bowling career and I have went to the last 4 national tournaments and I know I have what it takes to make it on the professional tour but I just do not have the funds to back up my dream!! I was wondering if you could help me and I wont let you down!! My name is shawn hullinger and my cell number is (563)676-0890 and I live in Marion,IA 52302!! Please get ahold of me ASAP so I can get your feedback for what I need to do and I WILL DO IT!!

Answer
Just having a 210 average is not enough in todays environment, even if that 210 average would be on Sport or PBA conditions.  You will need to prove yourself in the PBA regional program.  After that, you may be able to find someone that could help with the expenses to go to the tour trials.  If you cant make the tour trials, the only other way to make the PBA is by bowling as many of the PTQs as possible and try to earn an exemption via points.  Other than that, you would have to have your PBA card and win the Masters or the US open.  Those are open tournaments.

I would suggest putting together a resume and send it to the ball manufacturers and see if you can get a contract to be on their staff.  That would add to your credibility.

Unfortunately, it is much harder today than it was back in the 70s and 80s to try the tour.  I wish you luck.
