Question
I know that tape is used in the thumbhole to eliminate squeezing the ball at release. I need to know what is the best way to locate tape when placing in the the thumbhole?
Thanks!

Answer

front and back of thum
Donald,
Tape can accommodate the sometimes daily fluctuation of the size of your fingers and thumb, due to many influences (humidity, temperature, diet, activity level, etc.).

Placing the tape allows for security, comfort, performance.

Placing the tape on the back of the hole (behind the knuckle) helps fill the space, secure the grip and does not change the span.

Placing slick tape or Teflon tape there assists in quicker release and less "grabbing" at the bottom of your swing.

Placing tape in the front or on the sides changes (ever so slightly the length and feel of the ball) allows for some or more loft in your shot. For many bowlers, the slightly longer feel will force them around the ball (helping get it off their hand) but lowers the track and sends it longer down the lane with less heavy roll.

Thanks for the question.
