Bowling/Bowling Release...

Question
I'm aware (I think!) of the proper release in order to get roll.  I'm  not a cranker...more like down and in.  BUT...I'd Like to be able to put more roll on the ball.  I know that that thumb needs to come out first...then the fingers.  For what ever reason, I cannot get as much roll as I like.  I carry a 195-200 average...but just don't have that power.  Wayne Webb drills my balls...and does a great job.  He once said, you either have the hand...or you don't!  I've seen women with more power.  I refuse to believe it's strength.  It's technique.  Why can I not master that technique???

Answer
Tim,
Feel the ball off your fingers. Some lift from your fingers as they close to your palm, will help with the feel you're looking for. Practice just the release into a couch or something. Then take it on the lanes. Bowlers working on improvements lose focus when pins start falling. Try to develop the feel before you get on a lane.

Also, keep the palm up as you follow through. Having a consistent finish helps control the consistent revolutions and rotation you are looking for.

An improved release utilized on the wrong part of the lane, may not provide the benefits you'd like (strikes). If you play straight, move around a little (left or right), on Typical House Shots (THS), too much friction near the gutter will burn off your balls energy to soon.

Thanks for the question. Let me know how the this first step works. Good luck and good bowling.
