Bowling/Brunswick Phantom ball layout
Expert: - 6/3/2009
QuestionI recently acquired a NEW undrilled Black Phantom ball.
I can find NO WHERE the drilling layout for this ball.I have been trying to replace this ball for quite a few years after my previous was stolen. This was the perfect ball for me when the shot was really broken down.
Now I can’t find an OLD HAND driller to drill it, and the newer/younger guys have never attempted to drill one and have no idea how to drill it other than off the label. I seem to remember that you had to allow for the
Asymmetrical weight block and feel I need some help.
Thanks for your time, efforts and consideration!

AnswerDennis,
What did the old Phantom do for you? If I remember correctly the recent Blast Zone had a similar core to the Phantom.
I used to drill them across the label, eliminating the influence of the ring on the core, which can really influence the roll. You utilize the low Radius of Gyration of the core and the mild cover to help get the ball down the lane. That was the layout the first time the ball won on TV (Amleto Monacelli).
Hope this helps. Thanks for the question.
