Question I have a question about drilling. After rolling my Cell and getting an oil track I calculated my PAP with my Pro Sect. My grip center line is 2" down by 4 7/8" left from the PAP. The 2 down sounds like a lot. Is that possible that thats just the way I through the ball. Thanks, John
Answer John,
From grip center, your PAP co-ordinates are 4 7/8 right on a perpendicular line from your gripline? Then up 2 inches (on the Vertical Axis Line or VAL) on a perpendicular line to the midline (the first line drawn from your grip line, grip line and VAL should be parallel)? How far from your PAP is the pin? Mass bias? Is there a weight hole? Where is it?
Put a piece of bowlers tape on that PAP, then roll the ball. The tape should be a solid point as the ball rolls out of your hand, and for a brief time as it rolls down the lane. If the tape isn't solid move the tape until it is.
The 2 inch vertical co-ordinate is a fair amount but occasionally strong balls like the Cell are rolled by players that will alter the roll (spin them a little more) to get them to work better on a Typical House Shot. If that is your normal PAP, as reflected on other balls, it's how you roll the ball. But, strong cores like the Cell core will effect the roll and therefore the Axis point of some balls. (I get a PAP about an inch closer (horizontal co-ordinate) to my center of grip when I roll MoRich balls.
Let me know what you find? And if the tape needs to be moved? Thanks for the question.
