Bowling/Tendentious In Finger - Drilling Layout?

Question
Hello,
My middle finger has been bothering me since March of 2009 and I have been told that I have tendentious in the finger. It hurts at the joint closest to the fingertip. I want it to heal before league bowling starts up and was wondering if you knew of any other drilling options I could have done such as the use of a different finger or something else I can do without switching hands so that I can give the finger time to heal. Any help would be appreciated. I bowl a hook with a 16lb fingertip if that helps any.

Thanks

Answer
Jason,
I am not a doctor, but for years I've come across injuries like you've mentioned.

You can alleviate some strain with a pitch change for the finger, a lighter ball, roll without a finger grip, or just take time off. Getting a doctor's recommendation, would be my strong recommendation.

Relay the above choices and solicit more from your physician, should you opt to continue to bowl. See what your Doctor thinks. More often than not I've found, a short layoff helps, rather than stretching out the grief from an injury over an extended time. Let me know what you choose. Most bowlers just can give it up for awhile. Good luck, hope things improve quickly.
