Bowling/pin placement

QuestionQUESTION: Warren,
I just received a new Brunswick Wild Thing, and the pin is 4-6" and top weight of 1.8 oz. I do not understand what that means. I am generally a small swing shot player, and i have a low to medium rev rate. I am wondering if there is specific drilling layout that will allow me to use the ball to its fullest extent.
ANSWER: Jon,
The strongest layout with a big pin involves what is known as a double thumb layout. With a lower rev rate the double thumb should help generate additional flare.
Depending where your Positive Axis Point (PAP) is, the mass bias (MB) is placed next to the thumb with the weight hole next to the MB.
What did you intend for the Wild Thing? What do you need the ball to do?
Thanks for the question. Let me know.

QUESTION: Well, i intend the wild thing to be a strong shot ball for me, it is polished, so, i would like to play it on heavier patterns with a strong backend. Hopefully, i would like it to be a swing ball, not a down-in ball.
AnswerJon,
Your driller will have to set up the details, without rev rate, ball speed and some other details it hard to layout a ball just guessing.
The double thumb should allow for tons of flare so swinging the ball should be required, but a player with fewer revs can be rev dominant because they throw slow.
The help you get from the core and layout is limited by your rev rate and speed. Good luck with the ball. If it's not quite enough, ask your driller if he/she could recommend a coach to improve your rev rate. The driller might even be able to help.
Thanks for your questions. Good bowling
