Bowling/removing lane conditioner oil

Question
What is the best way to remove lane conditioner (oil) from a bowling ball with
out effecting the core of the ball? It's been a very dull summer here out east so
letting my balls sit in the truck of my car is not working. Also how often should I
do it?

Answer
Kirk,
Heat or chemicals.

Only Brunswick recommends heat, the other manufacturers point out that the heating of the cover of a bowling ball when not done exactly right could cause the cover and core to separate.

If you check the Ebonite website (http://ebonite.com/images/uploads/resources/ball_maintenance_info.pdf/), they recommend their chemical rejuvenatory Hook Again.

You will also have good luck with an Ebonite suggestion of bathing your ball to remove lane oil. By that I mean: placing the ball into a bucket of hot water (120 degrees - hot from the tap, DON'T boil the water) and pour off and add water until the oil residue is negligible (2 or 3 cycles).

Thanks for your question. Good bowling.
