Bowling/Release problem

Question
During leagues or practice sessions, it seems that I have no problem with my release. But then when I go to a big tournament all of a sudden I cannot come out of any of my bowling balls correctly. My thumb seems to hang and I cannot get a consistent reaction. I don't have any problems like rubbing or tearing on my thumb afterwards. Any suggestions. I am a stroker style bowler with an average about 220 with med rev and med speed.

Answer
Since you don't have any trouble with the ball during practice or league, it would seem that the issue is not the ball. Since you have no injuries to your hand, it would seem that the fit of the ball is not a problem. That leaves the muscle between your ears! It's surprising how much the mental game can influence the physical game. I'd like to tell you all you need to do is stick a piece of tape in the thumb hole but that wouldn't be true. I suggest you read 'With Winning In Mind' by Lanny Bassham. It's a quick read, explains things very well, contains no psychobabble, and will help you immensely if you're willing to do the work. You can find it at http://www.strikeability.com or http://www.mentalmanagement.com Good luck!
