Question
I saw a video on the Internet of a bowler, apparently at a PBA event, who flew onto the lanes due to not releasing his ball.

I don't know who the bowler is, but I was wondering, is this real? It seems difficult to believe that a professional bowler would have done this.

Is it possible to have a good hook right into the pocket, and yet still get splits?

Answer
This is a trick shot used for exhibitions.  I have seen it done before.  Mike Machuga did it to celebrate his first PBA victory and honor someone special to him.

Since bowling involves round objects hitting each other, it is possible to throw a good shot and not strike.
