hello, i just recently bought a Hammer Vibe Onyx in 11 ibs, and i cannot throw strikes with this ball no matter how good i throw it, i get alot of 9s, did i get the ball to light, a 12 or 13 is to heavy for me to throw alot, also i bought a pair of bowling shoes and atleast once or twice during bowling i slip on the lane, so i lose confidence in throwing b/c i feel im going to fall, the heels feel like theres grainy sand on them. i would love to become a better bowler but i dont know what to do i avg around 130(horrible)

Answer
Les,
A bowling ball should fit so the need to grip it is minimal to unnecessary. Your experience most likely is with house balls that don't fit. I routinely put people into balls that are 1 to 2 pounds heavier than what they used in a house ball. What led you to an 11lb performance ball?

Ball = 11lbs, pins = 34+ pounds. You'll have trouble striking without perfect execution. You're giving up one of a balls main assets, gross weight. A custom fit should allow you to roll a ball that is heavier.

Shoes are probably still breaking in. Try wearing them around the house a little. It will help with grain of the soles. What kind of shoes did you buy? Some styles have elaborate sole and heel systems to help with just the right amount of traction and slide. If you have a sport style you can adjust them a little.

Thanks for your questions.
