QuestionQUESTION: I would consider myself a tweener... general question... if i was looking at a new ball with a 1.5 to 2" pin with 1 ounce top weight would i get into trouble with this set up or would it work for me? what is the relevancy of the pin versus top weight?
thank you
ANSWER: Close pin to Center of Gravity concentrates all the potential dynamics of a ball, making it less versatile to drill.
Light top weight depends on the total ball weight. What weight ball do you roll? Pin and top are elements to be utilized.
Bowl well and merry Christmas.

QUESTION: thanks for the info....I roll a 13lb ball due to my arm strength so I am looking for the best possibility in a new 13b ball as far as pin distance and top weight to consider any advice I will accept.
AnswerId,
A 13 pound ball has a smaller core and less dynamic potential because of the weight distribution amongst the various elements of the ball (inner core, poly material surrounding the inner core and the coverstock).
Your ball speed, the lane conditions and your skills (rev rate, rotation, tilt, etc.) all will dictate what may work better. What do you roll now? Why are you changing? Sounds like you're shopping online and are looking for the kind of recommendation that a hands on fitter and driller can offer.
I know nothing about how you bowl. Nothing about the lanes and lane conditions you bowl on. Nothing about the balls you are considering or what you have now. Do you get the feeling this stuff is complicated, because it is. You pay for expertise. And your expert should stand behind his/her work for you. I don't/won't guess, so without more info I can't even venture a suggestion.
I am sorry. In 23 years of drilling and 50 plus bowling, I've discovered that my job and what a good fitter and driller does is GOLD. Success. Scores and improved performance. But in a world where Walmart is the largest retail business, people choose other options too. To reward themselves, to pamper themselves, to give themselves the very best chance to maximize their potential. Choose experience, choose successful, choose effective. It's not always about the cost, it's often about the value.
Don't ever just buy a ball, invest in the best opportunity for you to control the lane with a tool fit and drilled by the best operator you can find/afford to maximize your skills and harness your potential. Bowl well. Thanks for your questions. I look forward to hearing back from you. Merry Christmas.
