Question
I recently aquired a used ebonite "the one" that i want to use for a heavy oiled amf synthetic house i bowl at. Will a 4000 grit abalon dull the ball to its maximum? Is this also good for a "sport shot" condition?

Answer
I would throw as straight as I can on a sport shot.No more than a 8-10 board down & in shot.I use polished straight up (no weights)regular urethane on this shot.
You can sand a ball down to 600 grit wet/dry sand paper is the max dullness. I would only sand a ball on a ball spinner. It keeps the ball round & evenly sanded. If you want it to hook out of the building, start with 600.The common grades are 600,800,1000,1200,1500,2000,2500,up to 5000 then Finess it to a mirror shine.Start at 600 & work up untill it suits you.Forget static weights use straight up with the pin at 2:00.Static weights mess up the pin.
