Bowling/Abralon Pads

Question
I bought a few abralon pads awhile back to use for my heavy oil balls and normally I sand them by hand. Instead of taking them to a pro shop to have them sanded, can I use a handheld sander and get similar results doing it that way? (example: Mirka brand has a sander for the abralon pads)

Answer
By hand will give you a random pattern. By ball spinner will give you a uniformed pattern. A random pattern will not give the ball the same % of sanding everywhere on the ball & may get the ball slightly out of round. You can do it several times. But more than that your asking for a wobble.
