Bowling/Axis points

Question
How do I find the positive axis point on a ball. I have been teaching myself drilling and layout techniques from the web but I am having difficulties finding the PAP. Any suggestions?

Answer
It is easier to find if you use a low flaring ball, but can be found with the high flaring stuff as well.

Trace the first oil ring on the ball.  Find the center of this circle and mark it.  Now find the point directly opposite that on the other side of the ball.  This is the PAP.  From the center of your grip, measure over and then up or down to the PAP.  This will give you your horizontal and vertical numbers.  Mine is 5 3/4-> and 1/4 ^.

Good luck,
