Bowling/Ball reaction

Question
I wonder why my team mate can carry a 225 average with tremendous hook shot, which he throws inside-out.  Yet when I try his ball it only breaks about 2 inches.  I notice he has high rotation and he said he throws the ball at 22mph.  He gets messengers across the alley all night long.  Is this due to finger lift, tilt of the core at release, or something else?  We are both right handed, but I throw the ball medium speed and rotation.  Also, it doesn't seem to matter which performance ball he throws, he always changes during the night, but some break even more than others for him.

Answer
hey bob,
well the reason he seems to hook it more is cause he has more hand in teh ball. Which means he gets more finger lift. This also creates more pin reaction when it hits the pocket. The reason you cant hook it as much is you probably dont have as much hand in it has he does. But big hook always isnt the answer, for example look at some of the best bowlers on tour ie. walter ray, mika, and many others they dont  hook the ball alot and they are planty good. But your friend does hook it more due to finger rotation and his speed is also a key factor.
thanx for asking and keep up with the good bowling...
