Bowling/Ball
Expert: Kyle - 8/14/2006
QuestionHey Kyle, my name's Andy. My friends and I have been going bowling a lot over the last few months, and we plan to join a league in September.I've been using the house balls, and would really like to get my own ball before the league starts. I have a hook thats been so-so for me, and I average around 140-150. I think with a ball meant for a hook, my game would improve a lot. The only problem is, my friend's who own their own balls have spent around 130-160 dollars each, and I have a budget of $75. Is there a ball that will give me a moderate hook for a price within my range?
AnswerAndy,
I think I might be able to help you out. Since you are just starting to throw a hook, I would go with a lower end reactive reasin bowling ball. One that might spark your interest is the Ebonite Tornado Warning.
http://www.bowlersparadise.com/shop/balls/ebonite/ebonite_tornado_warning_burg_p... Visit that url and you will see which ball I am speaking of. Before you buy this, however, check and see how much your local pro shop charges for drilling a fingertip bowling ball. It is essential that you ask for fingertip, not conventional. If you don't already know what a fingertip grip is, visit this url and do some reasearch (only a page of info)
http://members.tripod.com/Tips_4_Tenpin/coaching/Roll/basics_of_grip_and_roll.ht... Also, if the ball is a little bit more expensive at your local pro-shop, but gives you a free drilling service if purchased there, see which way is cheaper. Let me know what you think about my suggestions and let me know if you have any further questions. Don't forget to rate me either! Thanks!
