Question
Im a 15 year old bowler that has just recently learned how to throw a hook ball. I have never bought a bowling ball before with the exception of a Columbia 300 plastic ball. I was wondering what I should look for when I go to buy a bowling ball. I throw the ball with average speed and average rotation on the ball. I was wondering if I should get a ball for light, medium, or heavy oil? I was looking at the Brunswick Scorchin Inferno, do you have an opinion of that ball? What should I look for in a ball. Thank you,
              Adam

Answer
If this is going to be your first ball in the performance category, I would not jump into the highest line available.  Most of the ball companies make some very good equipment in the lower price range of balls.  Storm has the Hot Rod SS series, Ebonite has the Ice and Fire series, Roto Grip has the Mercury and Saturn.  I would think these balls would give you great potential and performance for the price and as you gain more experience, you can move up to the higher price equipment.  I would also go with something more middle of the road so it will work on a more varied lane condition.  Some balls are too condition specific to be the only ball you would have.

Good luck,
