Question
Hi, I have been bowling for about 2 years now, my average is 192. I am looking to change to a more conventional style and I am looking for the best way to go about it. Currently I use a 4 step delievery, but I only put my thumb in up to my first joint, and my wrist if very bent at setup, This style has been successful for me so far, My high game is a 247.  But I am looking to get even better. I just dont feel comfortable putting my thumb in all the way right now, I dont know if it is a problem with where the holes have been drilled or if its just a mental problem.

If you could offer any advice that is very much appraiated.

Thanks a lot

Answer
I would have your fit checked just to be sure it is not a ball fit problem.
If the fit is deemed correct, then it will take a bit of effort on your part to develop the feel for putting the thumb all the way in.  The main reason we look to put the thumb all the way in is for control and to lessent the stress on the forearm and elbow.  You may need to relax your wrist position until you get comfortable.

You may need to have someone watch you bowl so you can develop a physical position that will allow release the ball.

Good luck,
Chip
