Question Everytime I bowl, I notice that my back at the hip gets hurt and so does my wrist, especially if I attempt to spin the ball. The pain usually goes away within a couple days. My question is, what are the common types of bowling injuries and how to determine the severity of it? Like how to tell if it's a pulled muscle or if you pinched a nerve? If you cannot answer these questions, please provide some resources I can refer to. I appreciate it!
Answer I would try to have a local bowling coach work with you. You are trying to throw the ball in such a way as to put way too much stress on your body. If you continue to bowl with an improper technique, you will always have the pain.
The most common injuries bowlers have is tendonitis of the elbow or wrist. Knee pain, hip pain, and back pain occur as well. Just about all of this injuries can be attributed to poor technique, although some will come from slipping or sticking on the approach.
