Bowling/Changing thumb pitch

Question
Hi,

I'm wondering the best way to change the thumb hole pitch in ball that has a slug in it already. Can you/How do you remove the thumb slug? The ideal situation would be to pull the slug, plug the hole and re-drill. I assume it can not be pulled and the slug will be removed by redrilling the hole to 1 1/4" (size of the slug)?

Additionally, what are the advantages/ disadvantages of plastic vs urethane slugs?

Answer
The thumbe slug will have to be drilled out using the size of bit that was used to install it.

You should be able to just use a new slug as long as you are not changing the pitch a lot.  If you are going to change the pitch a signicant amount, you would need to replace the 1 1/4 slug with a 1 3/8 slug.

The urethane slugs are slicker and harder than the vinyl ones.

Good luck,
Chip
