Question Hello,
My name is Bill Cron. I live in Northeast Pennsylvania. I have been bowling since I was 8 years old. I currently bowl in 2 leagues and I love every aspect of the game. I recently traveled a great distane to purcahse a bowling ball drilling machine. I now have the machine set up in my basement and I have a fitting and drilling book from Brunswick that covers the most basic aspects of drilling a ball. It does not cover fitting a ball when insterts are used. I have been scouring the internet to find a book that will help me get started in my new venture. I have been looking for the book Fitting and Drilling a Bowling Ball by Bill Tayolr. I have not been able to find one anywhere. Not even on Ebay. I stumbled acroos your web site and I am wondering if you can help me. My bowling center has no proshop and the bowlers are screaming for someone to help them. I believe I could learn on my own but a little help would be great. If you can help me please reply. Thanks Bill
Answer Now that you mention it, I dont think I have ever seen a book on drilling that talks about using inserts. I have the Bill Taylor book and it does not.
It really isnt any different though. All you have to do is fit the inserts to the thumb or finger and then subtract the thickness of the insert from your total span. Most finger inserts will fit in a 31/32 hole and most thumb inserts will fit in a 1 1/8 hole. The big thumb inserts will fit in a 1 1/4 hole. Super glue will hold them in.
