Bowling/Oiling Lanes

Question
Is there a certain amount of oil that is placed on a lane, or does that differ by each facility and/or state?

Also, would an inexperienced bowling have trouble noticing how oily the lane is?

Answer
There is only a rule that states there must be 3 units of oil where oil is applied.  This is a ABC rule.  I am sure  you can contact the ABC tech people and they can tell you the exact volume measurement is for 3 units.

The more oil on the lane, the later the ball will go into a roll or make a direction change.

Good luck,
Chip
