Bowling/Oily Lanes

Question
Hi,

I'm currently holding a 14 pound Ebonite V2 power. When it comes to oily lanes, i seriously could not figure out what to do... When i roll the ball down the lane, the ball would just skid down, got little reaction and could not come back. My rev is really slow although I'm wearing a guard. Even i was lucky to sent it to the pocket but it just won't carry...Did i did something wrong in my release? I believe it wasn't my ball's problem but actually me...do i actually need high revs to make the ball go into the pocket? Please help ASAP...Thanks

Answer
The release is the secret to creating hook and power.  It may be as simple as getting the revs that you do have to be more useable.  If your release comes up the back of the ball, the ball will not make much of a change of direction and will hit with less power.  It will be much more controlable though.  If you want to increase the angle of the hook,  you will need to create more side rotation.  Try getting your fingers around the side of the ball.........more in the 3 oclock position at release.  This would be on the order of Pete Weber's release.
If this does not get your ball to move better,  you may have to sand it to get the surface of the ball duller.

Good luck,
Chip
